The Residents of Mobile are buzzing with anticipation as the much-discussed annexation issue finally reaches the polls.

The city is eyeing four areas to expand its limits: Kings Branch, Orchard Estates, Airport Corridor, and the Cottage Hill Corridor

Some of the current residents of these areas have proudly put up signs in their yards in support of the annexation.

They believe that Mobile has much to offer its residents and are excited about the possibility of becoming part of it.

On the other hand, there are some who oppose the annexation.

They think that the services offered by the city are insufficient.

Many also say that the motivations behind the move are purely financial

Currently, residents living only three miles outside the city limits already receive police and fire services.

However, Councilman Joel Daves of District 5 suggests that this may change if the annexation doesn’t proceed.

And for some residents, the allure of the city’s services, particularly police and fire protection, is a compelling enough reason to vote in favor of the annexation.

What do you think?

To ensure a smooth voting process, designated polling locations have been assigned for each neighborhood involved in the proposed move.

So, mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 18, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and let your voice be heard in this crucial election that will shape the future of Mobile!
