Saturday was one for the record books at the Whit. The Jags faced Louisiana Monroe for Homecoming, a must-win game for the Jags.
ULM came into Mobile undefeated in conference play but did not leave that way. Thanks to a complete performance from the offense and defense, the Jags gave ULM their first loss in the SBC this year.
Gio Lopez was 18/30 for 168 yards and rushed the ball 3 times for 25 yards and a rushing TD. The Jags had 2 rushers over 100 yards including 355 total rushing yards which is a Team Record against a D-1 opponent. On the ground Kentrel Bullock carried the ball 18 times for 141 yards and 2 TD’s.
Not to let Kentrel have all the fun Fluff Bothwell carried the ball 17 times for 119 yards and also 2 TD’s. Braylon McReynolds carried the ball 8 times for 73 yards and also had a rushing TD.
The Jags scored on the ground 6 times in all.
Turning to the receivers, Jamal Pritchett continued his SBC dominance with 11 receptions for 89 yards. Laith Marjan was 1/1 on FG’s with a long of the night of 48 yards. He was also 5/6 on XP’s.
On defense, the Jags were led by Blayne Myrick and Dalton Hughes each recording 7 tackles including 1.5 sacks. Maurice Strong Jr. was right behind them both with 6 tackles of his own.
Wesley Miller and Ty Goodwill also helped secure the victory, each having an INT.
Next up is Georgia Southern this Saturday night at 6:30pm. This is another pivotal game for the Jags, who are currently 2nd in the SBC west and 3-1 in the conference.
Let’s pack the Whit and show them our support Mobile.
J’s up and go Jags!
