Providing practical, cheap rehabilitation in a secure, safe, Christian setting is central to The Shoulder’s mission of restoring individuals and their families who experience alcohol or drug abuse.
This program began in 1988 by a group of guys who realized that substance abuse treatment was essential in the community.
The Shoulder’s mission is to lessen the negative connotations attached to drug and alcohol abuse.
To raise awareness of substance abuse problems and the resources available for treatment, they hold various workshops and outreach events.
There are two residential substance abuse treatment clinics in operation by The Shoulder.
An initial 40-bed rehab center for males at Spanish Fort is their first facility.
State-certified treatment is available on two levels at The Shoulder.
The first one is low-intensity residential care at the Transitional Care Level III.01
The second is their new 42-bed women’s facility in Mobile, Alabama.
Their men’s program in Spanish Fort has two levels of care, and so does this facility, with Level III.5 being the highest level and Level III.1 being the lowest.
Spirituality, the 12 steps, and a rehabilitation orientation are the three cornerstones of all programs at The Shoulder.
They require these services for clients.
If you’d want to get an evaluation for residential treatment, The Shoulder offers $50 examinations.
Before being accepted into any of The Shoulder’s programs, applicants must undergo assessments.
Pregnant women and individuals with IV substance use disorders, women who have dependents, people with HIV, and those with a substance abuse disorder receive special attention from The Shoulder.
As soon as clients complete the residential program, they can return regularly for support and encouragement in a group setting.
