It was a cold and windy afternoon at the Whit on Black Friday but that did not stop the South Alabama faithful from showing up to cheer on the Jags.
After all it was Senior day for many members of the program and one last home game!
Gio Lopez was 16/23 passing for 190 yards and a TD. He also ran the ball 7 times for 29 yards and a TD.
Ultimately 2 int’s and a lost fumble proved to be too much to overcome.
Fluff Bothwell led the running game for the jags with 6 carries for 81 yards and 2 TD’s. His longest of the day was 51 yards.
Leading the WR’s was Jamaal Pritchett with 10 catches for 85 yards and a TD.
The defense was led by Jaden Voisin and Darius McKenzie with 27 tackles combined but Blayne Myrick stole the show with a 33 yard pick 6 and tallied up 10 tackles himself.
Jordan Scruggs also had 10 tackles on defense, including 5 solo.
Special teams was led by place kicker Laith Marjan, who was 1/1 on FG’s and 5/5 on XP’s. He is a semifinalist for the Lou Groza award.
With a win over Southern Miss the Jags became bowl eligible and will soon find out which bowl they will land in.
The regular season may be over, but it’s time to go Bowling.
J’s up and Go Jags!
