South Alabama Men’s Basketball Recap

The Jags men’s basketball team had a busy week during Thanksgiving break. South hosted Incarnate Word on Monday night, 11/25 at the Mitchell Center.

Myles Corey led the Jags in scoring with 19 points.

Judah Brown and JJ Wheat scored 11 and 12 points respectively and Randy Brady contributed 9 points.

The Jags were 8-12 on FT’s, 12-24 on 3’s and 32-49 on FG’s. They took command from the start and went on to win 84-63.

     On 11/26 the Jags took on Western Illinois and had an incredible come back spoiled. They found themselves down 41-14 at one point and Myles Corey hit a 3 as time expired.

South trailed by 27 and fought back to lose by 1 point.

The final was 64-63. Myles Corey led the team with 17 points on the night while Randy Brady, Barry Dunning and JJ Wheat all contributed 13 points each.

On the night they struggled early and were only 37% on FG’s, 19% on 3’s and 77% from the FT line. 

     On 11/29 the Jags had their last home game of the week against Alcorn State that was an OT thriller with the Jags winning 74-65. Myles Corey scored 25 points on the night and was named SBC player of the week. Barry Dunning scored 14 points and JJ Wheat contributed 10 more points off the bench. The Jags shot 42.9% on FG’s, 34.3% from 3-point land and were 73.7% on FT’s.

     Next up for the Jags is a home game against Jacksonville State this Sunday at 3pm. The game will be on ESPN +.
