IN THIS WEEK’S RUNDOWN – Alabama Logistics Park, Airport moving to Brookley, and Do Some Good action

Hey there, amazing Mobile citizen!

The South Alabama Logistics Park (SALP) has been unveiled. Located off Interstate 10 near the Theodore Dawes exit, this 1,300-acre park will help attract more warehouse, distribution and manufacturing operations to our area.

This facility will offer industrial warehouses and distribution space that can accommodate the growing number of shippers and light manufacturers that will need to locate in close proximity to the Port of Mobile or Mobile’s Brookley Aeroplex.

Developments like these will help us recruit and retain good-paying jobs in the future. Man, I love living in this city!

Mobile Airport Authority also recently announced that its Master Plan to relocate commercial air passenger service to the Mobile Downtown Airport has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. What a milestone for us that will ultimately expand competition between carriers, attract more low-cost carriers and add additional direct flights to new cities.

Do you guys remember back in February when we celebrated the Carnival season in creative ways due to the pandemic? One of the things that really stood out was the “Mobile Porch Parades” that really showed the world true Mobilian spirits. Last week, co-organizers Suzanne Sarver and Stacy Wellborn were kind enough to tally the numbers and show us just how many households participated in the movement.

[If you missed the episode back in the middle of the Porch Parade, I’ll include it below]
