The steel skeleton is officially topped out.
On Friday, construction crews placed the final beam on the new parking garage at Mobile International Airport, marking a major step in the relocation of the city’s main airport from west Mobile to the Brookley Aeroplex.
This isn’t just about a place to leave your car. It’s about momentum. The 465,000-square-foot structure is big, bold, and built to handle more than 1,200 vehicles.
Made of steel and concrete, it now stands tall along Mobile Bay, quietly shaping the city’s future travel hub.

From Beam to Boost
Figures Incorporated Construction and Development is the crew behind the build, and they’ve been moving fast.
The structure is slated for completion by December, giving crews enough time to focus on surrounding areas: the terminal, the ramp, and the commercial access roads.
With fewer workers tied up on the garage itself, more energy can go into the bigger picture. The garage is no longer just a construction site—it’s a launchpad for everything else that’s about to rise around it.
Dollars in the Details
For airports, parking isn’t just convenient. It’s lucrative.
“This represents what will likely become one of the largest income producers for the airport,” said Andy Wilson, Executive Director of the Mobile Airport Authority.
“Parking historically has been one of, if not the strongest, incoming revenue streams for an airport operator.”
Airports run on razor-thin margins. Parking structures? They’re gold mines. And this one’s ready to play its part.
Countdown to Takeoff
The new airport itself is on track for a September 2026 debut.
When it opens, it’ll feature a five-gate terminal and service from Delta, United, and American Airlines—all of which will move their commercial operations from Mobile Regional to this new spot downtown.
It’s a shift in skyline and strategy. The Brookley site brings travelers closer to the heart of the city—and much closer to I-10. Access improves.
Time shrinks. And the entire experience begins to feel a little more elevated.
One Beam Closer
The topping-out ceremony was a quiet milestone with big implications. It marked the moment the garage’s shape became clear.
From now on, it’s finishing touches, final connections, and full steam ahead.
As the sun sets behind the new frame of Mobile International, you can already imagine the buzz. Cars pulling in. Travelers rolling bags toward the terminal. Flights lifting off just past the bay.
The future’s coming into view—and the parking garage just got it one beam closer.
