Original Oyster House

Original Oyster House

Founded by enthusiastic entrepreneurs Joe and Mary Lou Roszkowski and David and Jane Dekle, the Original Oyster House Restaurant is a testament to their successful seafood restaurant partnership, initiated in 1982. Beginning with sixty seats and ten employees in 1983, the restaurant has experienced expansions in 1986, 1996, and 2012, now accommodating 300 seats and employing 130 people. The Original Oyster House is not only the oldest seafood restaurant on Pleasure Island but is also part of the Original Oyster House Boardwalk, the area’s oldest specialty shopping center, acquired in 1996. The success led to a second restaurant on Mobile Bay Causeway in 1985, evolving over the years to include a gift shop, boat dock, 300 seats, conference room, and a 100-seat banquet room.
