Hey hey Mobile – Our family is growing! According to the 2020 census data, our state population has grown and our state will retain seven seats in the U.S. House of Representative for the next 10 years.
And because we are growing, efforts to make the lives of the community here are continuously being planned and executed by the city. There’s news of evaluating and designing public amenities that would help activate our downtown waterfront at Cooper Riverside Park. This initiative would allow exploration of design elements for possible public amenities near the Mobile Convention Center and Cooper Riverside Park as well as ways to enhance public access and use of this important part of our City’s waterfront.
Talk about quality of life. This is why we love living in Mobile.
As for our education sector, let us all congratulate Denton Magnet School of Technology for being named as the Outstanding Middle School of the Year by the Alabama Technology Student Association. Students of Denton recently competed (virtually) in TSA’s annual state conference, winning 8 first-place awards, 3 second-place awards, and 3 third-place awards.
Heads up on our regular trash collection. Trash collection is running behind its normal schedule. The City is currently waiting on parts to repair some of our trucks that we use for curbside trash collection, and the shipment of those parts has taken longer than usual due to COVID-19’s impact on supply lines.
We are anticipating that we can get back on our regular schedule within the next 30 days. You can check out the advisory here.
