In collaboration with Keep Mobile Beautiful, Inc., the Alabama Coastal Heritage Trust, and Clean Water Future, the Mobile County Commission sponsors Love Your Community’s anti-littering initiative (LYC).
They aim to get residents involved in community cleanup and restoration.
The initiative enlists the participation of volunteer teams made up of one to as many as ten community members who are eager to lend a hand to combat the city’s massive trash problem.
Local associations, schools, community organizations, environmental organizations, and people who walk for exercise are all examples of typical team members.

For this initiative, each team has an assigned specific area of Mobile County to inspect and remove litter.
Aside from main or more minor highways, locations may include neighborhood public areas near shops, schools and churches, and rights-of-way.
At this point, teams will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating litter clearance at the designated spots.
Organizing cleanup efforts around the schedules of individual team members is the responsibility of each group.
Love Your Community will give cleanup materials to registered teams, including vests or tee shirts, gloves, litter grabbers, and garbage bags.
The incentive-based nature of this initiative distinguishes it from other offerings in the community.
Participants receive rewards for their hard work with modest funds for cleanup and environmental projects.
For example, if a team of five volunteers for 50 hours, they will get a $500 grant for a cause of their choice.
You may volunteer by picking up litter, volunteering at recycling centers, hosting cleanup events, teaching proper garbage disposal, and compiling LYC reports.
