8.8 million grant funds mobile county program for moms and babies

The Nurse-Family Partnership of Central Alabama has expanded to Mobile County with a new program funded by an $8.8 million grant, providing nurse-led home visits, maternity care, and mental health support to families in the Gulf Coast region. 

Walter McMillian, a U.S. Navy veteran originally from Mobile, Alabama, overcame decades of struggles with addiction and homelessness through the support of Pensacola’s Waterfront Rescue Mission and Veterans Village.

Alabama’s public school enrollment reached its highest point in eight years, with over 729,000 students for the 2024-25 school year, driven by growth in thriving communities like Huntsville, Limestone County, and Baldwin County.
