On December 14th the Jags traveled to Montgomery for the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl to take on Western Michigan.
This would be the second straight year the Jags would play an in-state bowl game.
With starting QB Gio Lopez out, Bishop Davenport stepped in and stepped up.
He was 15/24 on the night, passing for 271 yards and 2 TD’s. He also rushed for 85 yards, including a 50 yard TD run.
Leading the receivers was Jeremiah Webb who had 6 receptions for 182 yards. He averaged 30 yards per completion and earned himself game MVP.
The leading rusher for the Jags was Kentrel Bullock who carried the ball 17 times for 130 yards while averaging 7.6 yards per carry.
The Defense was led by Jaden Voisin, Blayne Myrick and Wesley Miller all recording 4 solo tackles each and Amarion Fortenberry picked off Hayden Wolff to help secure the win for the Jags.
This is the second bowl win in two years by the Jags and first Bowl win for Major Applewhite as the team’s Head Coach.
