The first thing to do if you’re at risk of becoming homeless is to contact a local shelter.
These facilities provide (semi) permanent housing to those in dire circumstances.
If you don’t need these services and would like to help these facilities, your donations are most welcome.
Whatever your situation might be, here are some homeless shelters where you can seek refuge or be helpful to the community.
AL Homeless Shelters Mobile
The Salvation Army Family Haven
The Family Haven is the lone shelter in Coastal Alabama that serves families with children of varying compositions, including those with only one parent present.
With the purpose of preserving family unity, transitional housing programs help families learn the skills they’ll need to find and keep permanent homes.
Up to 55 people representing 15 families call The Family Haven home on any given night.
The facility offers families in need a place to stay, food to eat, clothing to wear, and a helping hand, in addition to a safe haven.
All families receive customized support as they embark on a path toward independence, including help with goal-setting, learning life skills (including budgeting), improving communication, parenting, coping with stress, and finding employment.
Family Haven welcomes:
