The “Shake the Field” voting rally at Mardi Gras Park in Mobile energized the community ahead of the 2024 election, emphasizing the importance of voter turnout. 

Organized by Alabama Forward and Stand-up Mobile, this event was part of the larger “Now or Never Festival,” highlighting the new congressional district changes and promoting civic engagement.

Former UMS-Wright standout Paige Madden won a bronze medal in the women’s 800-meter freestyle at the Paris Olympics with a personal-best time of 8:13.00.

Mobile County’s Down Payment Assistance Program has been relaunched, offering up to $25,000 in assistance for first-time home buyers with household incomes at or below 80% of the county median.

Jared Cooper, a window washer in Alabama, found himself dangling 450 feet in the air after his equipment malfunctioned while cleaning the RSA Tower. 

Thanks to the swift actions of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, he was safely rescued.

A new 70-acre Margaritaville Resort is coming to Orange Beach, Alabama, near The Wharf along the Intracoastal Waterway. 

The resort will feature a Waterfront District, oasis deck, and various accommodation options, with the first phase opening in 2027 and completion by 2029.
