SURREALIST NIGHT AT MMOFA

Join MMofA for an opportunity to get creative and unlock your power of imagination at our Surrealist Night. Inspired by collection exhibition, DECADES: Looking Back/Moving Forward (1940 – 1959), they’ll have various themed activities for guests, including a large collaborative drawing called the Exquisite Corpse. In this game, each participant takes turns writing or drawing on a sheet of paper, folding it to conceal his or her contribution, and then passing it to the next player for a further contribution.
There will also be a screening of the short Surrealist film, “Meshes of the Afternoon,” made in 1943 by Maya Deren. Throughout the evening, hired musicians will improvise a score to the film live in the East Gallery.
