What’s up, Mobile? Hundreds turned out for the annual Armed Forces Day at Battleship Park. The day started with a 5k run from the Battleship reaching to the causeway. How many runners took this challenge? More than 300. Nice!
This celebration honored the sacrifice of Alabama veterans who’ve died in the nearly two decades since the 9-11 terror attacks. Read the full story here.
Speaking of ships, the Carnival Cruise Ship “Sensation” docked in the Mobile Port for the first time so its essential crew members could be vaccinated against covid-19.
The Carnival crew members getting their COVID-19 vaccinations at Mobile is a big step towards having cruise ships set sail from the Port City, once again.
Once cruises resume from U.S. ports, Carnival Sensation will homeport in Mobile replacing the old Carnival ship, “The Fantasy”. Oh yeah!
The “Sensation” will have 98 additional balcony staterooms, the cocktail pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar, a Bonsai Sushi Express venue and the Cherry on Top sweets shop.
The city hopes that vacationers can enjoy these amenities and set sail by Mid-July depending on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
