Do Some Good- Shop at Whole Foods Market Mobile TODAY June 28th and 5% of net sales will be donated to Victory Teaching Farm in Mobile, AL! Victory Teaching Farm is a nonprofit, urban teaching farm located one block south of the historic cannon in Midtow. This innovative program is working to transform the health and well-being of our entire community through education and advocacy surrounding sustainable food production.  

6/29-7/1: Distinguished Young Women 60th National Finals
Thursday – Saturday, Mobile Civic Center
The Distinguished Young Women Preliminary Competitions take place Thursday and Friday as the Class of 2017 competes in fitness, talent and self-expression. On Thursday night, awards will be presented for community-supported cash scholarships and on Friday night for the Distinguished Young Women competition categories. The National Finals take place Saturday night. 

6/29: Salt Marsh Excursion
Thursday – 9:45am, The Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab
Salt marshes are not monotonous expanses of grass; they’re fascinating coastal wetlands that are critical to our estuary system. Join the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and be a marine scientist for a day! Get to use seine nets, buckets, shovels, and sieve boxes to collect samples including crabs, snails, and fish (then release the animals back to the marsh). Learn about the important role salt marshes play in the Gulf of Mexico and how they support the seafood we enjoy! Spots need to be reserved in advance.

6/29: LODA Fun Run
Thursday – 6pm, Moe’s Original Bar B Que – Downtown
Runners and walkers of every fitness level are invited to join Fleet Feet Sports for a night time 1.5 or 3.1 course in Downtown Mobile every Thursday. Come get your heart rate up, make some new friends and enjoy post-run specials at Moe’s on food and drinks.

6/30-7/1: Red, White and Bulls Rodeo
Friday –  Saturday, The Grounds
The Red, White, and Bulls Rodeo will feature live music from Johnny Hayes and the Loveseats and a fireworks show. Advance tickets are $10 for adults. Tickets at the gate will be $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Friday, June 30th – Gates open at 5:30pm with Johnny Hayes and the Loveseats at 9:00pm following the rodeo. Saturday, July 1st – Gates open at 5:30pm with a fireworks show at 9:00pm following the rodeo.

6/30: Whole Foods Market Summer Wine Tasting Series
Friday – 5:30-7:30pm, Whole Foods Market

7/1: Market in the Square
Saturday – 7:30am-12pm, Cathedral Square
Every Saturday until July 29th, Market in the Square will be open and full of local goods. The market will feature tasty treats, local produce, artisan goods, plants, handmade clothing and even items for your pet. Free admission!

7/1: AFC Mobile vs Gaffa FC
Saturday – 7pm, Lipscomb Athletic Complex
Mobile’s Premier Soccer Team is back in town and taking on the Gaffa FC from Jackson, Mississippi this Saturday! Come out and cheer on our fastest growing local soccer team. General Admission is $5.

7/4: 4th of July Celebration
Tuesday – 5pm, USS Alabama Battleship Park
The City of Mobile and Battleship Memorial Park are hosting a Fourth of July Celebration. Beginning at 5PM, enjoy barbeque, music and fireworks on the fantail – best seat in town for the July 4th fireworks show! Activities will include a patriotic concert by the Mobile Symphonic Pops at 7PM and a fireworks spectacular at 9PM. Come celebrate Independance Day on the deck of the USS ALABAMA for a patriotic and fun-filled fundraiser for Battleship Memorial Park. Admission is $5 per car.

7/4-7/8: Mobile BayBears vs Mississippi Braves
Thursday – Monday, Hank Aaron Stadium
The always-entertaining rivalry games between our Mobile BayBears and the Mississippi Braves Tuesday through Saturday! Each game has something extra to offer: Wednesday night features $1 hot dogs presented by Greer’s, Thirsty Thursday offers $2 beers, Friday Night Fireworks, Saturday Night T-Shirt giveaways and Sunday Fundays at the Hank -bring the family and the furbabies. Let’s give our hometown team big crowds and loud cheers each night at the Hank!
