Government St Presbyterian Church: The Government Street Forum is lunch and a speaker on Thursdays. Lunch costs $7 and is served at noon; the forum begins at 12:30 p.m. No charge to attend the forum. This Thursday’s speaker is Jim Barber, Mobile Police Chief!
1/16: Copley, Delacroix, Dali & Others: Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery:
Mobile Museum of Art: As part of the celebration of Mobile Museum of Art’s 50th anniversary, this exhibition will be presented until April 27, 2014. The exhibition represents the cream of the Beaverbrook’s collection, ranging from Lucas Cranach to Lucian Freud and is particularly strong in British works from the Georgian, Victorian and Modern periods. Oh, and it’s FREE on Thurs!
1/17: Martinis & Manicures:
Virginia College, Mobile: Local restaurants and bars including Benjamin’s, Felix’s Fish Camp, The Crooked Martini and O’ Daly’s Irish Pub will compete to create the best Girl Scout Cookie Martini. Guests will judge for People’s Choice Award while enjoying delicious food prepared by the Virginia College Culinary school and manicures by the Cosmetology school. All proceeds benefit Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama.

Joe Jefferson Playhouse, 11 S. Carlen Street: This swashbuckling tale of adventure and romance is by Edmond Rostand and directed by Jim Faust. It promises to be one you’ll not want to miss!

Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center, 65 Government St.: The beauty of the iconic monarch butterfly is coming to the big screen of the IMAX Dome. The film follows the impressive yearlong migration cycle of the monarch butterflies, from Canada, through the United States to remote 10,000-foot-high peaks in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico, and back. You’ll not want to miss this!
